Picked up car Thursday morning, deposit made with credit card. Car dropped off Sunday evening but not billed until following Friday morning. Money still blocked on credit card. Apparently it is my fault that it has taken 5 days to do this. No apology for the delay - blaming the customer seems to be the way Dockx like to go.

A VERY BAD and harassing experience!! First off, let me say that I have been a customer of Dockx, Herent (Leuven) for almost 7 years. They are extremely friendly and competent and always ready to help ? highly recommended. The very first (and LAST) time I hired a car form Dockx Wilrijk, Antwerp was a disaster. These guys are a bunch of CRIMINALS! I would not recommend Dockx Wilrijk at all! I hired a car for 2 days (Saturday morning to Monday morning) for a weekend trip with a friend as Dockx Leuven did not have any cars available with them. To be fair: the experience of signing the contract and getting the car to drive off was smooth. I paid the deposit amount by cash (on Saturday morning) and was promised that I would be given a cash refund when I return the car (Monday morning). When I came back to return the car on Monday morning, the guy said that the car will be inspected later and the deposit will be transferred back to my bank account. When I said that I wanted a cash refund of my deposit amount, at first he said that they dint have cash in the office and that it could not be arranged. I insisted on it politely and quoted the reason on why I could not wait for the bank transfer to happen, and suddenly ?he checked with his colleague and he had some cash.? The guy then inspected the car and everything was fine, raised an invoice and there was a mysterious extra ?25 added to the invoice. No sort of explanation was given. The guy just slipped the invoice in front of me as if everything was ok. When I asked him what the extra charge was for, he said his colleague saw my friend (without registering for the extra driver) drove the car out of their office on Saturday. But, out of the generosity of their hearts, they had not decided to charge me extra driver for 2 days (?50), but just charged me for an extra hour of late delivery of the car. By the time we walked into their office, it was 7.35 am on Monday morning (they open at 7.30 am!) and post-inspection it was around 7.50 am while we were having this discussion!!! What extra hour??? When I told him that an extra driver had not driven the car, but my friend was sitting in the driver?s seat only to arrange the GPS, they would not trust me. The kind of words they used were very incriminating and he said, his colleague does not lie. Meaning, I was the one who was lying!!! Which was preposterous! When I asked him to prove with camera records that my friend had indeed driven the car, they were numb and gave me cock and bull stories like it takes 3 days to retrieve recordings etc. And while we were discussing this, the guy prepares another invoice, which now had ?50 additional charge and said that this is the final amount including the additional driver for 2 days!! I insisted that this bad and I do not agree to be billed for something I did not use and neither can be proven against me. At this point, they declined to talk to me and asked me to step out of their office WITHOUT returning my deposit. When I insisted that I will not step out without getting my deposit back, they blindly ignored me. As I continued to stay my ground, one of the guys finally came up and asked the ?colleague who wouldn?t lie? if he was sure that the other person drove the car. His response was, ?I saw the other person sitting in the driver?s seat but did not see drive!!!!!? After all this and convincing hard that they were using the fact that they have my money with them to overpower me, they guy cancelled all the extra charges and billed me for the right amount of my invoice and gave me my deposit back. I stormed out of the place with a resolution never to go back in there!!! A bunch of cheaters! Even if as they claimed, another (unregistered) person had driven the car, which was NOT the case with me, it is the risk that I take and they have no business billing me for it! Their interests are protected either way! Can someone pls talk sense into these folks and give them a lesson on how the real world outside the walls of Antwerp works!!! Never Dockx Wilrijk again!!!
