Not close to the train station, have to take the bus to get to the car rental. Bit inconvenient. Otherwise it's a car rental desk. No complaints there.

Will never use Avis again in Europe, especially Belgium. Took me over 4 months to get a refund of my deposit after dubious claims of damage to the vehicle picked up and returned in Bruges. Would not respond directly to my queries and took my travel agent repeated attempts over many months to find out what the charges were for in the first place, let alone get my deposit refunded. Very amateurish operation all round in Bruges. No-one in the office when we went to pick-up the vehicle and no proper return procedures. Something very strange is going on here. Avis as a global company needs to step in. Beware as many others seem to have been bitten in Belgium, which is a pity as this is generally a very hospitable country.

Friendly and helpful staff, hard to find though

Everything went smoothly until the very end. We rented the car with the assistance of a pleasant English-speaking Avis representative. Unfortunately, the computers were down (which sounded to be a frequent problem) and that caused some frustration. We were pleased with our car and very much enjoyed the on-board GPS. Although we did not need it, we paid for the additional CDW insurance with no deductible. However, when we returned the car, we were shocked to find ourselves in a argument over additional charges for mileage. We specifically had been assured we had unlimited mileage. We were very disappointed that the manager, Sara, basically called us liars and was aggressive towards us. Apparently customer service is not appreciated at this location. We had no option but to pay since they just add it to the credit card. Perhaps we can warn some other traveler of our poor customer service experience. Beware of the 'unlimited' mileage.
